Welcome!

Allow me to introduce myself. I’m a mom, a friend, a daughter, a wife, a volunteer, a Christian, a sometimes gym-member, a fake gourmet, a reader, a writer, a happy face, a TV addict, a singer, a loud fan of youth sports, too chatty for my own good, quick to say yes, too old to wear a mini skirt, a big fan of the 80’s, kind-hearted, easily wounded, a girl with the mouth of a sailor, loyal, honest, and when you meet me, you may see all of these things at once.

Which is what tends to happen at places like church council, where I serve on the Music Board. Other members say “no report” and the meeting moves on. But I clamor on and on (and on and on) about the Christmas concert, or the kids’ choirs or the beautiful organ music and the joys of the season. I’m uncensored. I lose my filter. Sometimes I stop talking and I find people just staring at me. So I had to make a deal with myself long ago: if I’m just honest, just myself, nothing can ever go wrong.

Okay, things go wrong all the time, but one thing is certain: I will never lie to you.

I start many days with a prayer for discretion when I speak. Sometimes I pray for the gift of selective silence, the ability to listen, for strength, for patience, for grace. Today I thanked God for this chance to reach out. I’m so grateful, and I’m grateful that you are here reading. Thank you for coming!  I wonder, will you recongize yourself here?

So welcome to this blog. There is truth here, and hopefully moments of grace. Come along with me on my journey. It’s different every day. . .
